5-digit by 3-digit numbers long division with remainder worksheet with answers to practice & learn 5th grade math problems on division is available online for free in printable & downloadable (pdf & image) format. Tap on PRINT, PDF or IMAGE button to print or download this grade-5 worksheet for dividing 5 digit dividend by 3 digit divisor with remainder.
In this fifth grade math worksheet, students are required to find and write the quotient of 5 digit by 3 digit numbers long division with remainder as like in the given solved example of this online workbook for long division problems. In such problems, the dividend is always 5-digit numbers and the divisor is always 3-digit numbers.
To solve 5-digit by 3-digit numbers long division with remainder problems, from left to right, check how many times the 3-digit divisor can be subtracted from the first three of the given dividend and write it as part of quotient as how many number of times the divisor accommodated in dividend. Write the difference between first three digits of the given dividend and the product of divisor & quotient below the line.
If the number formed by first 3-digits of dividend is smaller than the 3-digit divisor, include the 4th digit of dividend and check how many times the 3-digit divisor can be subtracted from the number formed by first 4-digits of the given dividend and write it as quotient as how many number of times the divisor accommodated in dividend. Write the remainder by calculating the difference between number formed by first 4-digits of the given dividend and the product of quotient & divisor.
Bring down the 4th or 5th digit of initial dividend and append it to the right side of remainder and check if the number is greater than the 3-digit divisor. If so, append the number (how many number of time the divisor can be accommodated in new dividend) to the right side of quotient. Bring down if any digit is left remaining in the initial dividend and follow the same procedure until the number formed by brining down the digits is smaller than the 3-digit divisor. The number smaller than the divisor is the Remainder of this division.
